Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains what information the Oura Plugin processes, why it is used, where it is stored, and how you can remove it.

The Oura Plugin is the user-facing name for the independent integration registered with Oura as TRMNL Integration.

The integration has one simple purpose: to make relevant information from your authorized Oura account available for display on your connected TRMNL device.

Who operates the Oura Plugin?

The Oura Plugin, also known as TRMNL Integration on the Oura side, is operated independently by moocon consulting GmbH.

Oura and TRMNL are trademarks of their respective owners. The Oura Plugin / TRMNL Integration is an independent integration and is not operated by, owned by, sponsored by, endorsed by, or otherwise affiliated with Oura or TRMNL.

The plugin is operated under German law and in accordance with applicable data protection requirements, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

What information do we process?

When you use the Oura Plugin, the integration processes current information made available through the Oura API that is required to provide its display functionality.

Depending on the functionality available in the plugin and the permissions you authorize at Oura, this may include:

• sleep and recovery information provided by Oura;
• activity and health-related information provided by Oura;
• other current Oura information selected for display on the TRMNL device; and
• an anonymized identifier used to associate the stored information with the relevant plugin instance.

The precise categories of Oura information accessible to the integration are presented as part of the Oura authorization process. You explicitly authorize the requested categories before the integration can access them.

The plugin does not maintain a historical archive of Oura information. Data stored by the plugin represents the current information required for its functionality rather than a historical record of your Oura data.

How do we use your information?

Oura information is used exclusively for the purpose of displaying it on connected TRMNL devices through the Oura Plugin.

The plugin operator does not use your Oura information for any other purpose. In particular, we do not use it for:

• advertising or marketing;
• selling or renting information to third parties;
• creating advertising profiles;
• unrelated analytics or behavioral profiling;
• training artificial intelligence or machine-learning models; or
• any other purpose unrelated to providing the plugin functionality.

Where is your information stored?

Oura Plugin data is technically stored and processed using infrastructure provided by Cloudflare.

Cloudflare provides technical infrastructure used to operate the integration and store the information required for its functionality.

The plugin operator may choose different technical service providers in the future where this is appropriate for operating the integration. A change of service provider does not require individual user consent where such consent is not required by applicable law.

Where a change affects the information described in this privacy policy, this policy will be updated accordingly.

How is your identity handled?

As part of the standard TRMNL plugin installation process, TRMNL may provide the integration operator with information identifying the TRMNL user who installed the Oura Plugin.

The plugin operator does not need this identity information to operate the Oura integration.

The identity information provided by TRMNL during installation is discarded by the plugin operator. It is not stored and is not connected with Oura information.

Anonymized plugin identifiers

Oura information stored by the plugin operator is associated exclusively with an anonymized plugin user identifier.

The plugin operator has no means within the plugin system to connect the stored Oura information with the real-world identity of the person to whom the Oura account belongs.

How long do we keep information?

Oura data is retained for as long as you keep the Oura Plugin installed and is deleted when you remove the plugin, subject to the technical deletion processes of the services used to operate the plugin.

The plugin does not historize Oura information. Only the current Oura data needed for the plugin's functionality is stored. When current data is refreshed, the plugin does not maintain a separate historical record of previous Oura values.

This means that the plugin is not intended to build or maintain a long-term history of your Oura health or activity information.

How can you delete your information?

You can delete your information at any time by removing the Oura Plugin using the Remove Plugin functionality provided in the TRMNL dashboard.

When the last Oura Plugin instance associated with your stored information is removed, all Oura information stored by the plugin operator for that user is automatically deleted.

You do not need to contact the plugin operator separately to request deletion of the information stored by the plugin.

Consent & legal basis

When you connect the Oura Plugin to your Oura account, Oura presents you with an authorization screen describing the categories of information that the TRMNL Integration requests.

You explicitly grant permission for the integration to access the selected information. This authorization is the basis on which the plugin receives and processes the corresponding Oura data.

This is particularly relevant for health-related information. Where the information provided by Oura constitutes special categories of personal data under Article 9 of the GDPR, the plugin relies on your explicit consent for the processing of that information.

Your authorization is limited to the categories of Oura information presented to you as part of the authorization process. The integration does not request or process additional categories of Oura information beyond what is required for its functionality and authorized by you.

Withdrawing your consent

You can withdraw your consent for the Oura Plugin to access your Oura data at any time.

You can withdraw access directly in the Oura app by opening Settings → App Integrations and removing the authorization for the TRMNL Integration. This prevents the integration from accessing new Oura data going forward.

Alternatively, you can remove the Oura Plugin using the Remove Plugin functionality in your TRMNL dashboard.

Withdrawing your consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that took place before consent was withdrawn.

If you withdraw consent through the Oura app without removing the Oura Plugin from TRMNL, the integration will no longer be able to obtain new Oura data. Information that was already stored by the plugin remains subject to the retention and deletion rules described in this policy.

Your privacy rights

Under the GDPR and other applicable data protection laws, you may have rights concerning personal information processed about you.

Depending on the circumstances, these rights may include:

• the right to request access to personal information;
• the right to request correction of inaccurate information;
• the right to request deletion;
• the right to request restriction of processing;
• the right to object to certain processing; and
• the right to data portability where applicable.

Because the plugin operator does not retain the TRMNL identity information provided during installation and does not connect it with Oura information, the plugin operator may not be able to identify an individual from the anonymized information stored by the plugin.

You can nevertheless contact us if you have a privacy-related question or believe that information concerning you is being processed.

You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority.

How do we protect your information?

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information processed by the integration against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Access to plugin infrastructure is limited to what is reasonably necessary to operate and maintain the service.

No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security. We nevertheless aim to keep the plugin and its supporting infrastructure appropriately protected.

International data transfers

The Oura Plugin relies on third-party services and infrastructure, including Oura, TRMNL, and Cloudflare. Depending on how these services operate and where they process information, information may be processed or transferred internationally.

Such transfers are subject to the applicable privacy policies, contractual arrangements, and international data-transfer mechanisms of the respective services, as well as applicable data protection law.

Technical storage and processing provided by Cloudflare may involve processing in countries outside Germany or the European Economic Area. The relevant providers apply the transfer mechanisms and safeguards applicable to their services.

Similarly, information exchanged with Oura and TRMNL may be subject to their respective international processing arrangements and privacy policies.

Changes to this privacy policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Oura Plugin / TRMNL Integration, its technical infrastructure, applicable legal requirements, or the services used to operate it.

In particular, if we change the technical providers used to store or process plugin data, this policy will be updated where the change affects information described here.

The date shown at the bottom of this page indicates when this policy was most recently updated.

Simple terms for the free use of the Oura Plugin, also registered with Oura as TRMNL Integration.

These Terms of Service govern your use of the Oura Plugin, the user-facing name of the TRMNL Integration, provided by moocon consulting GmbH.

By installing or using the Oura Plugin, you agree to these Terms of Service.

1. Service description

The Oura Plugin is a free integration that retrieves Oura information for which you have authorized access and makes that information available for display on your connected TRMNL device.

The plugin is provided for convenience and personal use. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment recommendations, or any other medical service.

Information displayed through the plugin should not be relied upon as a substitute for professional medical advice or care.

2. Permitted use

You may use the plugin for its intended purpose, subject to these Terms of Service and the terms applicable to the Oura and TRMNL services that you use.

You are responsible for maintaining your Oura and TRMNL accounts, credentials, devices, and authorizations, and for ensuring that your use of those services complies with their respective terms.

You must not misuse the plugin, attempt to interfere with its operation, circumvent technical restrictions, or use it for unlawful purposes.

3. Third-party services

The plugin depends on third-party services, including Oura, TRMNL, and technical infrastructure providers such as Cloudflare.

The plugin operator does not control these services and is not responsible for their availability, functionality, policies, terms, APIs, technical changes, restrictions, or discontinuation.

Changes to third-party services may affect or prevent the operation of the plugin. Such changes do not constitute a breach of these Terms of Service by the plugin operator.

4. Availability

The plugin is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

We do not guarantee that the plugin will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every device or software version, or that information displayed through the plugin will always be complete, accurate, current, or available at a particular time.

The plugin operator is not obliged to provide maintenance, updates, support, or continued availability of any particular feature unless required by mandatory applicable law.

5. Changes and termination

You may stop using the plugin at any time by removing it from your TRMNL account and, where applicable, withdrawing its authorization in the Oura app.

The plugin operator may modify, suspend, discontinue, or terminate the plugin or individual features at any time, subject to mandatory applicable law.

The plugin operator may also update these Terms of Service when appropriate, including to reflect changes to the plugin, its infrastructure, or applicable law.

6. Liability

The plugin is provided free of charge. To the extent permitted by applicable law, the plugin operator is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of data, loss of profits, loss of use, or other financial or non-material losses arising from or in connection with the use or inability to use the plugin.

The plugin operator is also not responsible for failures, interruptions, inaccuracies, or changes originating from Oura, TRMNL, Cloudflare, or other third-party services.

Nothing in these Terms of Service excludes or limits liability to the extent that such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by mandatory applicable law. In particular, statutory liability for intent, fraudulent conduct, injury to life, body or health, and other non-waivable statutory rights remains unaffected.

Nothing in these Terms of Service limits mandatory consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded or restricted.

7. Applicable law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany.

If you are a consumer, mandatory provisions of the law of the country in which you have your habitual residence remain unaffected where applicable.

The statutory rules governing the place of jurisdiction for consumers remain unaffected.

8. Consumer dispute resolution

The plugin operator is not willing and is not obliged to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

This does not affect any statutory rights you may have to use an applicable consumer dispute-resolution procedure or to bring a claim before a competent court.
